Me, Myself and My Apartment

Me, Myself and My Apartment

I thought that i would introduce myself to my blog, this is me, Beth Staples. I'm 21, (4.11.1991) and to be honest i'm not all that interesting. I have recently graduated from Sunderland University studying a degree in childhood studies combined with health and social care and now working as a nanny. I am a film fanatic, i love watching them along with american TV programs. I like to read and mess around with makeup and beauty products. Love watching youtube videos of dailyvlogs and peoples beauty channels.
As you can guess i am living in London, and I also have a boyfriend of 5 years called Scott. Since i am living in London by myself i thought that i would start a blog to keep myself occupied by writing down the things i get up to while I'm here and anything else that i want to because, well its my blog :).

(Me)

The apartment i am living in comes with my job so i can't exactly redecorate it, so i have been adding some homely touches to make it seem more like a home as i'm living here for a year. Here are a set of shelves next to my bed that iv put lots of bit and pieces that i had from home. It needs a little rearranging though.

Other ideas that i had where to put little hanging decorations on the door nobs like this one. This was given as a gift along with a few other things in the previous photo. This door is in my bathroom so gives a little something to the room, its got a purple look to it so adds a little splash of color too. Other ideas that i had was to get a nice throw to go over the sofa, the space in the apartment is very small so any ideas to have more of a personal touch in the place is welcomed.

If i find any other ways to decorate then i will add these on too. I'm thinking possibly a vase with some fake flowers (real ones are so expensive in London and i get sad when they die).
Hope this post is helpful to anyone else hoping to add little touches to their apartments without painting ect.

Autumn...x

It is official, its getting colder, the leaves are changing, and Starbucks's are selling my all time favorite latte! The pumpkin spiced! #PSL. I just have to add a photo of my first one of the year from a few weeks back. (obv a large!) I have also had about 5-6 more since this photo was taken, oops!

So while trying to put together my first few blog posts and sort out all the content iv gathered up, its actually pouring down with rain and i'm lying in bed all snuggled up with my teddies. I was actually hoping that someone who lives in London would see this post and give me advice on truly authentic autumnal activities that are fun to do at this time of year. I would love to visit a fireworks display with lots of yummy food stalls, (recommendations appreciated). If you have not guessed, autumn is my favorite season out of the year, i got all exited walking through regents park the other day with all the leaves crunching under my feet.
Another part of the year i get exited about it all the yummy smelling candles that come out, i managed to find some inexpensive candles this year which smell amazing and only £2 each from Asda!

It is so good, it is not as good as the more expensive candles i must admit for filling the room with the fragrance but i just could not get enough of this smell! I will be on the look out for more candles to fill my apartment as i feel that they give the place a homely feel. Since i'm living by myself i am trying everything to give myself a warm welcome to the silence of my lonely living space. Can you tell i'm still getting used to it? If i was not here for just a year i would definitely be buying a pet to keep myself company.
I also need to find more films and programs to watch, i think i have watched everything out there!

Enjoy your Sunday

Little recap of my journey so far in London

Hey!
Well iv been living in London for about a month now, i got the idea to start a blog of my life in the "big city" from a friend who thought it would be a fun idea.
So this is my first time moving away from home, i'm from north east England originally and i have to admit the honeymoon period of being away is kind of drifting away. Since being in London iv walked soooooo much, my feet are disgusting, i definitely need advice on the best pair of fashionable walking shoes for being in the city.
London is beautiful, just yesterday i walked into a huge department store (can't remember the name, just of Piccadilly Circus) and it had the most extravagant Christmas decoration display i have ever seen! I felt like i had just walked into Santa's workshop, it was amazing. Although i picked up a decoration and it was like £25 for two little tree decorations, little expensive if you ask me. With it being obviously a very posh shop i felt out of place to snap up some good photos of the place. I will most definitely be going back and taking my sister along with me when she visits, it was just so pretty.
Besides from that my time in London so far has consisted of me getting used to my surroundings, settling into work and a routine. On the weekends iv been visiting little markets and the huge shops that surround me. A few weeks ago my boyfriend visited me for our 5 year anniversary, he is still living back in the north east, and we went to Harrods for ice cream! It was amazing, i managed to snap a few photos, i would recommend it to anyone who appreciates deserts as much as we do.
Scott had chocolate fudge brownie with hot chocolate sauce! Yum

I had banoffee yum, i couldn't finish mine

They were so yummy! I also took Scott for a stroll along kings road, with all the high brand stores which he enjoyed looking at. We never went in though, as i think we would have looked a little out of place! But we did enjoy shopping on Oxford street, which is just a short walk away from where i live, very convenient.

I have to say, i have to bow down to anyone who lives away from their loved ones, it is not the easiest thing to do at all! Dropping him off to go home was an emotional time, but it is not too long till he comes to visit me again :).

So i suppose i better tell everyone a little bit about myself, I'm 21, recently graduated university, and now working as a nanny in London. I'm only going to be here for a year, but i though that this blog would be a nice thing for me to look back at my time in London, the good the bad and the depressing!

Talk you you soon
